About The Band

The Milpitas Community Band was formed in 1992 as part of the City of Milpitas Parks and Recreation division. At its start, the group consisted of 10 members but has grown ever since. Sometime ago, the word "Concert" was added to the name becoming the Milpitas Community Concert Band.

The membership of the band is diverse, consisting of players from high school to retirees in their seventies. The band is proud to draw members from many walks of life: teachers, publishers, nurses, computer engineers, and even a NASA manager who all come together to share a love of making music! The band has also joined the "New Horizons" band program and offers an opportunity for people to "come back" to playing an instrument, even if after a 40 year absence.

The band presents 3 family-style concerts a year featuring: classic symphonic band literature, marches, popular music, jazz, Broadway selections, and even some forgotten gems!

In addition, the band performs at several Milpitas city events throughout the year including, Veterans Day, Memorial day, as well as the annual holiday tree-lighting ceremony.
